Professional Learning in ʻŌiwi Edge for E Ola!
A New Paradigm
to Kaʻaikuahiwi.
Kaʻaikuahiwi is evolving into a more comprehensive paradigm for professional learning at Kamehameha Hawaiʻi. Now, Kaʻaikuahiwi includes:
-
Asynchronous and synchronous Online Courses (earning K‑credits or $ for Column 6 kumu)
-
K–12 Priority Opportunities, R&D Opportunities like task forces and independent innovation pathways
-
Teacher Leadership Pathways currently in development.
Together, these experiences nourish kumu growth, strengthen practice, and align professional learning with our shared vision for ʻŌiwi Edge education.

He Lani Ke Keiki.
The Child is a Chief.
At the heart of our mission lies a profound truth: every child embodies the potential for leadership. Just as Naeʻole and Kekūhaupiʻo recognized young Kamehameha's inherent leadership, we see this same potential in each of our haumāna today.
The term "lani" speaks to leaders who carry the weight of lineage and responsibility to their lāhui. Through Haumāna-Centered Learning, our signature pedagogy for E Ola!, we prepare our students to embrace this kuleana, equipped with ancestral wisdom, mana, and the courage to guide their communities forward.
This vision drives our commitment to continuous professional growth—because empowering future lāhui leaders requires educators who are themselves committed to learning and evolution.
